We are pleased to announce the appointment of Anthony Chereso to our Board of Trustees, effective January 1. As chief executive officer and president of The Inland Real Estate Companies, LLC (Inland),one of the nation’s largest vertically integrated commercial real estate investment, finance, and operating groups, Chereso brings more than 30 years of experience across retail investment, commercial real estate, alternative investments, and finance to the Foundation.

Chereso first joined Inland in 2022 as its chief financial officer, overseeing the acquisition of Inland’s majority interest in Devon Self Storage Holdings, one of the largest privately-owned national self-storage operators and development companies with more than $2 billion in assets. In 2024, he became Inland’s President and CEO. Prior to joining Inland, he worked as president and chief executive officer of the Institute for Portfolio Alternatives (“IPA”), the foremost alternative investment trade association, where he was the leading voice for critical legislative and regulatory issues with an unwavering commitment for the advancement of the alternative investment industry. Under his leadership, the IPA was intimately involved in advancing investor centric legislative and regulatory policies providing for broader adoption of emerging investment solutions for the main street investor.
“DuPage County is my home, and I feel a personal responsibility to be engaged and to support DuPage Foundation, our county’s champion for philanthropy,” said Chereso. “This appointment builds on Inland’s multi-decade legacy of supporting the Foundation, and I look forward to contributing alongside other civic and philanthropic leaders who are addressing local needs through collective action and making a positive, countywide impact.”
Chereso is a graduate of the DePaul University School of Business. As an industry leader, he is an active supporter of many associations including the United States Chamber of Commerce, National Association of REALTORS, NAREIT, and the IPA.
Chereso resides in Wheaton with his family, the proud father of five children and a grandfather to three grandchildren. He is a member of the Wheaton Lions Club, The Conservation Foundation, and supports Wellness House, assisting those affected by cancer and a Board member of the 100 Club of Illinois and Better Government Association.
